Are Your Current Customers Helping You Get New Customers?

While watching some television the other night, I, as many of you probably do as well, was channel surfing. Instead of doing the obvious time saving technique of actually reading the weekly TV guide that comes with my local newspaper, I decided to sit in my chair and flip through each channel until I found something I liked. Why we do this, who knows? But it is very common I am sure.

While moving through each channel I stopped on a movie that I absolutely love called El Dorado. It stars John Wayne and Robert Mitchum and is a pretty good film.

During a commercial break there was an advertisement for the local cable company. The ad said something to the affect of, if I upgrade to digital right now along with a friend who is a new subscriber you get 3 months of digital programming absolutely free.

I was thinking that's not a bad deal. The only problem is, everyone I know already has cable television. Nevertheless I thought it would be a perfect topic for today's article and that is rewarding customers who refer new business. It's like marketing and not having to pay for it until you actually make a sale.

Whether you run an online business or brick and mortar establishment, this is a good way to generate more revenue and more importantly, build your customer base. Let's say for example you run a website that sells a monthly subscription to widget digest. It doesn't matter what widget digest is. Just know for now that you sell it.

In this example you can easily offer to a current customer that for every new customer that signs up that was referred to your company by them, the customer will receive 'x' number of months added onto their subscription. Depending on how much you charge for a subscription that could be a substantial savings. A savings that is sure to get your current customers motivated to work for you in obtaining new customers.

This is how the example would work if you had a monthly subscription. You could also tell your existing customers, that if they refer new customers, they will receive a gift card for a purchase at a later date of another product you might sell. If you are a service oriented person, such as you hang drywall for a living, you could offer to paint a room for them if they refer a person who needs some drywall work done.

As you can see, the possibilities with this type of marketing are endless. You can offer free products, coupons, further discounts, you name it.

Sit down and decide what offer will be best for your company to make it worth your while. Write up the plan and the execute it. If done properly you should be getting those new customers in no time.

Now let me see if any other good movies are on right now.

US Government Influence on Current Crude Oil Prices

Crude oil prices are getting higher and higher and there is not much that we can do about it as individuals. We cannot change the prices, we can only hope that the prices are affordable, and if they are not we might as well turn to another source of energy. But there surely must be a reason for these oil prices being so high. Current crude oil prices are very high compared to their cost say a decade ago. The US government however does influence the cost of current crude oil prices and will continue to influence the prices. I am going to go into detail on what the US government do to control the flow of crude oil to the US as well as the influence that they have on crude oil prices in the US.

The US Government is responsible for finding a source of fuel and having it distributed across the US. The majority of the fuel which is used in the US is from eastern countries in the world. However even though the US Government controls this flow of crude oil across the country, they never seem to try to improve the prices or seek a different source of energy. It makes you wonder whether the US Government is actually aware of the current fuel situation with crude oil.

PRICES

The US Government does have full control over the crude oil that comes into the country, however there never seems to be an improvement in price. Could it be a bad government? Could it be the decrease in crude oil in general? I would say it is a combination of both. Prices are high because crude all is becoming more valuable as its amount decreases. The US Government could be doing so much more to improve the way energy is used and distributed throughout the US. There is so much wasted and we could easily conserve it. But to be honest, it is a bit too late to save crude oil. Crude oil prices could be better if the government created a better plan of how to use the crude oil. But I think that the US Government could be using their power in much better way to change the current system, they could introduce green energy and renewable sources of energy. They have in some areas, but they are not looking out to changing it for the entire country as a whole.

The US government could do so much to improve the current energy plan, there are so many problems that are arising such as the high price of crude oil, yet the US Government seem to be concentrating more on other issues. There are many candidates running for the next election who want change to happen and I hope that whoever wins the election takes the current energy plan and completely turns it around so that it benefits the US. Many problems are arising as a result of crude oil prices [http://petrol-pump.com] and they are slowly forming into one big problem, we can only hope that some action is taken, and soon.

Current Propane Prices

Recent Propane Price Movements

prices

Propane prices have been on a downward trajectory since the latter half of 2008. Many factors affect the price of propane, but its steep decline over the course of the past year is mostly due to its strong correlation to crude oil prices. As we are now entering the winter season we can expect propane prices to rise slightly, all else equal. The price of crude oil will be a more significant factor and any sharp changes in the price of crude will have a more drastic affect on propane price levels than the typical seasonal factors.

PRICES

Factors Affecting Propane Prices

Inputs

o Price of Crude Oil: strongest influence on the price of propane
o Price of Natural Gas: although used for processing, not as significant

Supply/Demand Factors

Because demand is seasonal there is an imbalance between inventories in the summer and winter months. Demand for propane is low in the summer months and as inventories build up downward pressure is exerted on prices. As demand begins to increase in the winter months and the temperature drops in the American northeast propane prices are pulled in the opposite direction. Household consumption of propane depends highly on weather conditions. This is the major cause of increased demand in the winter. Similarly the agricultural sector has a need for propane in the late fall, around the time household consumption starts to creep up. The petrochemical sector on the other hand is much more flexible in its options and is able to take advantage of the shifting demand by purchasing propane in the summer when prices are low.

Transportation Costs

The farther your source of crude oil supplies is the higher the transportation costs you pay will be. While these prices are for the most part stable, if there is a major change in your supply source it could affect the costs you pay for transportation.

Future Prices

Since crude oil prices are forecasted to remain at current levels until the world economy rebounds in the upcoming years, the price of propane can also be expected to remain relatively stable. There are course will be seasonal fluctuations as mentioned above, but generally propane prices will continue to mirror that of crude oil. It is important to consider that while crude oil prices are widely believed to have little chance of increasing significantly, these markets are very sensitive and unpredictable. Any adverse developments could easily affect the price that investors are willing to pay for this commodity and this would have a corresponding affect on the price of propane.

Propane Price Spikes

The inventories that build up during the summer provide a cushion as the winter months come and demand starts to overtake supply. This is expected and the reason the inventories are allowed to build in the first place. However sometimes there is a winter season that is unusually cold or long and this can put added pressure on supplies and prices. A common example is if cold weather hits early in the heating season and coincides with the high demand of farmers in the fall. This would be a shock to demand that was not built into expectations. If there is a sudden disruption in supply it can have the same effect. So can the mere delay in the delivery of a major shipment. In these instances there can be a drastic spike in the price of propane that is uncorrelated to input prices. These spikes are only temporary and prices eventually return to more normal levels as market participants react to the circumstances.
